Current Works on ViaRhona

Thank you for respecting the construction site instructions and the staff of the companies on site.
Please remain cautious and attentive to the signage in place when you arrive in the areas mentioned below!

GENEVA - LYON

  • Between Vulbens and Seyssel - ViaRhôna will soon have a new 20 km route between Etrembières and Machilly! This new cycling route will cross the urban area from Machilly to Etrembières and should be fully operational by 2026.

  • Between Champagneux and St Genix sur Guiers - Work from 22/05 to 10/06 - The cycle route is closed from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM except on weekends and public holidays. Detour via RD1516 and RD125.

  • La Balme-les-Grottes: Deployment in progress of the new route in the village! Follow the temporary signage.

  • Work in progress at Hameau de La Brosse: Implementation of a temporary detour.

  • Arrival in Lyon - Work in Miribel Jonage Park: Follow the detour in place or, for more comfort, join the towpath (up to Iloz). Then follow the Miribel Jonage canal to the Passerelle de Décines, which you cross. Continue straight on the Chemin de Contre-Halage towards Lyon. Once you reach the Pont de Croix-Luizet, you will naturally join ViaRhôna to Lyon.

LYON - AVIGNON

  • Closure of the bridge between Condrieu (Rhône) and Les Roches-de-Condrieu (Isère): Passage under the bridge is prohibited! A detour route in the village allows you to continue your journey.

  • Ardèche: Technical work will be carried out on the Rochemaure and Baix footbridges

  • Stage between Sablon and Tournon-sur-Rhône (Ardèche):
From September 15, 2025, works will begin as part of the ecological restoration of the Rhône’s riverbanks. On the Chambon sites (Vion, Lemps, and Saint-Jean de Muzols), the Via Rhôna will be diverted for about 2.5 km via the Varogne and Table du Roy paths. 👉 Please follow the temporary signs along the route.

  • Bridge in Viviers : Temporary closure of the bike passage under the bridge! Please follow the temporary signage.

AVIGNON - THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA

  • Construction work has started between the port of Bellegarde and the Espeyran Bridge in Saint-Gilles (Gard).
For now, you’re still riding on a temporary route… but in a few months, a beautiful 57 km cycle path 🚴‍♀️🚴 will safely take you along the Rhône–Sète Canal, from Beaucaire all the way to Le Grau-du-Roi.
