Train + Bike policies for 2026
Throughout the year, bicycles are welcome on board TER trains in the designated areas and within the limit of available spaces. However, starting from May 1st, "train + bike" schemes are implemented on certain lines to facilitate access to trains!
In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region
During summer 2026, from 1 May to 27 September, a €1 bike reservation is mandatory on 6 TER lines, except for season ticket holders on their usual routes.
Dates:
On weekends, holidays, and 15 May
everyday from 1 July to 31 August
On certain trains, additional services are available to facilitate travel: dedicated staff are present to assist cyclists with boarding.

In the Sud Region
From 1 May to 27 September, a €1 bike reservation is mandatory on 4 TER lines
Dates: On weekends, holidays, and holiday weekends in May, June, and September, and every day in July and August
Train lines:
- Lyon – Marseille (incluant les trains Lyon – Avignon, Lyon – Marseille, Valence – Marseille, et Valence – Avignon)
- Briançon – Gap – Marseille
- Briançon – Gap – Valence
- Gap – Grenoble.

In the Occitanie Region
For optimal travel conditions, the Occitanie region and SNCF offer free and mandatory reservations for limited bike spaces for passengers on all liO trains.
Everyday (including weekends and holidays) from 1 July to 31 August
Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays the rest of the year
This program offers free and mandatory reservations for dedicated bike spaces on all liO trains, allowing passengers to travel under better conditions during periods of high demand.

Reminder of the rules on board:
- Your bike must be labeled with your first and last name and remains your responsibility throughout the journey.
- Folding bikes are allowed, provided they are folded and can fit in the designated baggage areas.
- Bikes adapted for People with Reduced Mobility should be boarded in the PMR (Personne à Mobilité Réduite) car, within the limit of available spaces, without the obligation of reservation, and subject to meeting the applicable requirements for wheelchairs (70 cm in width, 120 cm in depth, and 137 cm in height - including the occupant, and the weight of the wheelchair, its occupant, and their luggage must not exceed 300 kg in total).
- The transport of tandems, tricycles, trike bikes, recumbent bikes, "longtail" cargo bikes, and trailers is not authorized.
- Panniers must be removed from the luggage rack to avoid cluttering the space (unless they are folded and/or disassembled and stored in a transport cover).
- For more comfort, prefer off-peak hours!
